Consulting

The competence area Consulting faced its first major challenge at the end of 2001 when logistic planning for the new Terminal II at Munich Airport had to be carried out. The work was completed successfully early in 2002. Parallel to the introduction of the web-based order processing system (CCR NET), a “Help Desk” was set up for clients that could be reached directly by telephone during and on the Internet outside business hours, thus enabling advisory services to be accessed at any time when questions of material disposal arose.
In 2002 CCR also completed other consulting commissions, in some cases resulting from the need to assess the problems likely to arise from new European directives on the disposal of end-of-life vehicles and electrical appliances. Thus, CCR conducted an investigation across Europe into the recycling situation regarding shredder fractions or, in another case, on European glass recycling. An investigation of an existing system in France for the collection of electronic components was also carried out and a cost reduction concept put forward, culminating in the build-up of a suitable logistical system from 2004 onwards. Another forward-looking project was an investigation of the possible effects of the European end-of-life return commitment for electrical applicances (WEEE), undertaken for a leading European group.
Consulting work was not only undertaken in the form of project-related advisory services or the development of return systems, but also included the organization of events such as the Automobile Symposium held in Birmingham on November 1, 2002. CCR invited representatives from the governments, parliaments, technical inspection authorities and vehicle manufacturers, associations and science to discuss problems arising from the EU End of Life Vehicle directive. CCR representatives also took part in events concerned with environmental protection and accompanied a delegation from the Japanese Environment Ministry which came to Germany with the intention of learning more about economic recycling policy.
CCR monitors changes in legislation in Brussels and Berlin through local representatives, always keeping in touch with the political winds of change, which could pertain risks or chances for our customers. At the same time, CCR offers its expertise on managing recovery systems on demand to the parliamentary proceedings.
