CCR organizes various take back and collection systems for used batteries for the producers and sales organizations of starting batteries, traction batteries and stationary facilities. Cutomers of CCR are for example Johnson Controls GmbH (Varta) or Hoppecke Carl Zoellner &Sohn GmbH.
CCR offers the configuration of collection boxes, on time collection, compulsory documentation and recycling - all out of one hand.
For subsequent processing ingot lead is produced during recycling processes. Accordingly to industrial utilization the largest amount of waste lead generates from used batteries.
In Germany in 2003 190.000 tons of lead come from lead recycling. This equals 54 % of the total production of ca. 350.000 tons in 2003 including the use of lead deriving from original production (import). Almost 307.000 t have been used in the production of batteries (starters, traction batteries and stationary facilities). 156.000 t (including primary lead) were used to produce starting batteries. 140.000 t of this lead were regained over recycling processes. This equals a product related recycling quota of almost 90 %. (sources: BMU, Wirtschaftsvereinigung Metalle, BDI, eigene Berechnungen).
The market of CCR matches the market of recycling lead deriving from starting batteries, transaction batteries and stationary facilities with together 170.000 tons in 2003. The share of CCR on the secondary lead market for battery production in 2003 was about 20.356 tons. This equals a share of 12 %.
